Trip report for Pioneer Mothers Memorial in Hoosier National Forest
October 1999

This is a very short and easy trail, but the hike is well worth taking. This last bit of Indiana old growth forest is breathtaking! We extended the hike, going off-trail and found some enormous trees, including a giant dead one that looks like a monster. You’d hardly think you were in Indiana. We’d like to say that some of the trees here could rival the Redwoods in California, but we must admit, we have never seen a redwood.
